What is Semaglutide?

Semaglutide is a once-weekly injection for chronic weight management in adults with obesity or who are overweight with at least one weight-related comorbidity (such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or type 2 diabetes). It is used in addition to a reduced calorie diet and increased physical activity to help achieve weight loss.

How does semaglutide work?

Semaglutide works by stimulating the pancreas to increase the release of insulin. This additional insulin causes the stomach to empty over an extended period. The slow emptying of the stomach helps the brain to receive signals of “being full”. This signal is sent throughout the day even when eating decreased calories.
